Blog # 11 -- SNOW DAYS!!

Well, we finally got a snow day!  Actually, we got F'OUR of them!  Hopefully, we all enjoyed a full week off from school, and we will be ready to work hard for the next two weeks, before spring break!

I LOVE snow and cold weather!  This ice storm was so pretty!  Did you know snow storms are now actually named, like hurricanes and tropical storms?  The first snow storm to hit us was "Octavia," followed by "Pandora."  It looked like my back yard was made of crystal or glass.  I didn't leave my house for four solid days, and that was GREAT!  We sledded; rode four-wheelers; slept in late; and had fun just hanging out at home.  BTW -- back in 1975, we missed so much school due to snow, that we had to actually go longer during the week (7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.) and several eight-hour Saturdays!  We missed almost four weeks of school that winter!  Luckily, I don't think we will have to make any of our snow days up!   I'm glad we got a few days of though!  It was a blast!

So, what did you do during your "winter break"?  Did you go sledding? Sleep in late?  Could you get out of your driveway, or were you stuck?  Did you get bored?  Did you have electricity?  Did you make "snow cream"?

Respond in at least five complete sentences for FIVE extra credit points!  All blog posts should be posted by midnight on Friday, February 27th.  This will be the last blog of this grading period!

  1. Over the break I was able to get out of my driveway. Also the Internet and our house wasn't working. The week was a little boring but also kind of fun. I was able to spend a lot of time with my family especially my grandmother now that she's getting well. I would have to say the best part of my weekend was making my aunts famous snow cream, And it was delicious.

  3. I went sledding every single day and it was so fun. I also went riding on my four wheeler every day. Some days we would pull the sleds behind the four wheeler and that was super fun. For the first few days we couldn't go anywhere. This weekend all of the snow melted and was washed away by the rain and that stunk.

  4. For the four days we were out I didn't play in the snow at all. I watched One Tree Hill the whole week. We were able to get out of driveway and our lights went out once. It was great not getting up early every morning. I did have a dance competition that weekend so that was a lot of fun.

  6. During the snow break, I got a lot of sledding and sleep done in that week. I got my science project done with Easton Goff, also my family and I got to finish the movie Million Dollar Arm. I played in the snow with my puppy, and I was also able to finish a chapter of Across Five Aprils. Our family didn't get any blackouts, and we didn't get stuck in the drive way. Finally, I just played games with my family.

  7. Honestly, the only thing I did during the break was sleep. I didn't go outside because... Well... Not about that life. It was far too cold to do much of anything productive! So I slept, ate, and watched Netflix. My break was pretty average, then.

  8. During the week I mainly just slept in and stayed up late. Our electricity was fine and only flickered once or twice. My mom, little brother, and I watched the last episode in one of my favorite shows and is sadly over for eternity now. My winterguard compeition was canceled because of the snow. On Sunday before all the crazy mess started I finished my science project with Sydney.

  9. On Monday I went sledding with my friends for the majority of the day. Tuesday all I did was sled and watch Netflix. On Wednesday my friends and I decided to build an igloo but we did not finish the igloo but we did finish the igloo on Friday. We wanted to sleep in the igloo because it surprisingly warm in the igloo. The weekend just consisted of sleep and Netflix. On Sunday was making sure that all my homework was done.

  10. On Monday and Tuesday, I went sledding at my uncle's house. It was pretty fun, but very cold. Every day I slept to at least nine, so I guess I did sleep in. My dad had four wheel drive so I could get out of my driveway. Fortunately, I didn't get bored and I had electricity. I did not have snow cream, though.

  11. My snow days were fun I guess. I got my braces off and wtached Netflix. I got really bored though. We couldn't get out of our driveway beacuse the ice was really bad. We got stuck several times trying. I made a huge bowl of snow cream and my sister got mad at me because I didn't give her any. We fought the whole time and my mom kept getting mad. We only got to sled for twwo days because these random kids in our neighboorhood broke them. I wanted to make them buy us new ones, but my mom wouldn't let me.

  12. I had a blast during the four snow days! I live on a golf course with an abundance of hills to sled on. I don't own a sled so I had to borrow one from my friends. I spent all week speeding down the steep golf course hills. I even have some bruises to show for my experiences. I really enjoyed my snow week.

  13. My snow days were really boring. I played video games a lot, and never lost electricity. I couldn't sled because we don't have a hill or sled. We also didn't get enough snow for snowcream.

  16. During the snow days I went out in the snow Tuesday-Saturday with my sister and cousins. I did sleep in which was very nice. I never really got bored because I was out in the snow and thankfully I never lost power. My family and I did make snow cream. I was stuck in my driveway till Monday when my dad could finally get his truck out. This snow/winter break was much needed!

  18. I went sledding a lot over the snow days. On Wednesday me and my family built a snowman and made ice cream. Everyday I went outside at least once. Mostly I just tried to keep warm and slept a lot. I'm so glad that we got a week off, I know I needed it!
